J & J Laughton established J & J Laughton Shredding Servces Limited in 1996 becoming the pioneers of tyre recycling in New Zealand. Jim and Janene have 33 years previous experience in the solid waste refuse industry.
We are able to recycle tyres, by splitting, chopping, chipping, shredding and granulating them for different applications, which often replaces natural resources resulting in a benefit for the environment.
To process the tyres the main tyres of machinery necessary are shredders, granulators, steel extraction equipment, vibrating separators, guillotines, converyors, hydraulic pullers, debeaders, derimmers and associated vehicles.
Purpose built trucks and bins are then used for transportation of the processed rubber.
The company deals with all the councils in Auckland holding serveral contracts for dumpings and inorganic kerbside collections.
The 5,723 sq metre premises in Bancroft Cres, Glendene holds all the necessary licences required to collect and process tyres including the Waste Management Facility and Waste Collector licences.
We are regularly in contact with the Ministry for the Environment and numerous waste minimisation organisations around the country.
Every tyre entering or leaving our facility is recorded, accounted for and documented.
